Manglik Dosha Checker
Mars from your Lagna, Moon and Venus, with cancellations
How astrology checks Manglik dosha:Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house makes a chart Manglik. A careful check counts these houses from three points, your Lagna, Moon and Venus, then applies the classical cancellations, such as Mars in its own sign or Jupiter's aspect, before giving a verdict.

What does "Partly Manglik" mean?
This checker gives one of three results:
- Manglik: Mars is in a Manglik house from your Lagna and neither chart-based cancellation applies.
- Partly Manglik: Mars is in a Manglik house only from your Moon or Venus, or it is there from your Lagna but a cancellation applies.
- Not Manglik: Mars is in none of the six houses from any of the three points.
Which cancellations does this checker apply?
Two that your chart alone can show: Mars in its own sign (Aries or Scorpio) or its exaltation sign (Capricorn), and Jupiter joining Mars in the same sign or aspecting it. Two more are reported for context without changing the verdict: both partners being Manglik, which needs the second chart, and the widely used rule of thumb that the dosha eases after about age 28.
Can a Manglik marry a non-Manglik?
Yes, and it happens all the time. If the dosha is cancelled, weak, or the overall match is strong, the pairing is fine. The classical texts talk about friction and delay, not catastrophe, and the blanket "never" is cultural rather than classical. Manglik status is one input to a match, never the whole verdict.
How common is Manglik dosha?
Very common. Six of the twelve houses count, so by the simple rule a large share of all charts, roughly half, are Manglik from the Lagna alone, before any cancellation. Counting from the Moon and Venus as well raises the number further. A placement that common is a normal variation to weigh, not a rare affliction.
Do I need my birth time to check Manglik dosha?
For the Lagna, yes. The houses are counted from your ascendant, which depends on your birth time. If you leave the time blank, this checker skips the Lagna and judges from the Moon and Venus only, and says so in the result.
How we calculate this
Planet positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris on the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa. Houses are whole signs. Aspects are Parashari: Jupiter aspects the 5th, 7th and 9th signs from itself.
- Mars is counted from your Lagna, your Moon and your Venus. The Manglik houses are 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 and 12.
- Cancellation 1: Mars in Aries or Scorpio (own signs) or Capricorn (exaltation).
- Cancellation 2: Jupiter in the same sign as Mars, or placed so that Mars is the 5th, 7th or 9th sign from Jupiter.
- Both-partners and age rules are shown for context only.
Some traditions add further exceptions for Mars in particular signs in particular houses. Those lists differ from source to source, so we leave them out rather than pick one. The same birth details always give the same result, and nothing here is generated text.
