Career Timing Calculator: Best Time to Change Jobs
Job change and growth windows for the next five years
How astrology times a career move: it checks whether your running antardasha belongs to a planet tied to your 10th, 6th or 11th house, or to the Sun or Saturn, and whether Jupiter is touching your 10th house, its lord or your 11th house of gains. This calculator finds where both agree over the next five years.

Which house shows career in a birth chart?
The 10th house is the centre: status, role and public work. Its lord and any planets in it describe the direction of your career. The 6th house covers service and employment under someone else, and the 11th covers gains and income. Two planets matter wherever they sit: the Sun for status and authority, and Saturn for work, discipline and the long grind.
Which dasha is good for a job change?
People often change jobs close to the start of a new antardasha whose lord is connected to the 10th, 6th or 11th house. A mahadasha runs for 6 to 20 years and sets the broad theme. The antardasha inside it is where the specific moments of change tend to fall, so the windows above follow antardasha dates. Your own periods are in the dasha calculator.
What do Jupiter and Saturn transits do for career?
Jupiter over or aspecting your 10th or 11th house is read as a time when offers come and doors open more easily. Saturn over or aspecting the 10th tends to bring more responsibility and more pressure. When both act on the 10th house or its lord together, the double transit, astrologers read it as a sign that a change is ready to happen.
Should I quit my job because of a transit?
No. A transit on its own is a weak basis for a decision. Saturn stays in one sign for about two and a half years, so its entry into your 10th house is not a signal to resign that week. Check the dasha first, use transits to narrow the window, and then weigh the actual offer. A supportive window with a weak offer means better offers may come, not that you should take this one.
How we calculate this
Planet positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris on the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa. Houses are whole signs counted from your Lagna. The rules are Parashari, and the timing system is Vimshottari dasha.
- Significators. 10th lord 3, a planet in the 10th 2, a planet aspecting the 10th 1, the lords of the 6th and 11th 1 each, the Sun 1 and Saturn 1. Roles add up.
- Dasha.Vimshottari periods from the Moon's nakshatra at birth. Each stretch of time scores its antardasha lord at full weight and its mahadasha lord at half weight.
- Transits.Jupiter's and Saturn's sign changes are read from the ephemeris day by day for the next five years. Jupiter in or aspecting (5th, 7th, 9th) your 10th house adds 2, your 10th lord's sign 1, your 11th house 1, and the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th or 11th from your Moon (classical gochara) 1. Saturn on your 10th house or its lord (3rd, 7th, 10th aspects) while Jupiter is also there adds 2.
- Windows. A strong window needs a related antardasha and Jupiter on your 10th house, 10th lord or 11th house. We show the three best, in date order, and mark the strongest stretch inside each.
